The District Disability Management Review and Advocacy meetings:

In the District Disability Management Review meetings the implementation of the various sections of the Persons with Disabilities Act 1995 is reviewed all the District officers are given instructions to implement the Act vigorously. After noticing that the District and Taluk Administration does not have information on the rights and developmental activities of differently abeld persons, suitable awareness was created. The Deputy Commissioners in the Districts who are also designated by the State Government as D.C. Disabilities under the Persons with Disability Act 1995 conduct the DDMR meetings quarterly and send reports to the Office of the State Commissioner. District, Taluk and Village level officers of 32 Departments, Panchayath Development officers, Village Rehabilitation workers, multipurpose rehabilitation workers, block education officers, BRCs, BRPs, CRPs, IRTs, Volunteers of home based Education and representatives of Non-Governmental organizations participated in the DDMR meetings. Suitable instructions were given regarding understanding the problems of differently abled people, evaluation of the situation and also regarding the Social, Educational, Economic & Medical rehabilitation. The responsibility of the local bodies was also narrated. Regarding Education especially Sarva Shikshana Abhiyana Scheme is explained.

The District Disability Management Review meetings were conducted in the Districts of 1) Mysore, 2) Tumkur 3) Davangere 4) Chitradurga 5) Shimoga 6) Chamarajnagar 7) Mandya 8) Ramnagar (9) Hassan 10) Dakshina Kannada 11) Yadgir 12) Gulbarga 13) Chikmagalur 14) Bijapur during the year 2010-11.
