The office of the State Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities in Karnataka

The office of the State Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities in Karnataka is established as per chapter XII Sec 60(1) of the Persons with Disabilities (Equal Opportunities, Protection of Rights and Full Participation) Act 1995.

Shri. Govindaraju, Director, Department of Empowerment of Differently abled and Senior Citizens is holding additional charge of the post   of State Commissioner w.e.f. 14-06-2016

The pro-active advocacy policy of the office of the State Commissioner is continued regarding implementation of the various sections of the Persons with Disabilities Act 1995. Various issues are being taken up with different departments and a number of Govt. orders, circulars and directions have been issued by the Govt. of Karnataka regarding effective implementation of the Persons with Disabilities Act.
